AUTODESK
The architect envisioned a monolithic, hand-carved desk as the centerpiece of the space. Due to the stability challenges and weight concerns of using solid material, we pioneered a new approach centered on veneer. Our shop team iterated until we were able to create an organic form while successfully applying veneer to its surface. We combined a plywood structure with a fiberglass overlay, providing the smooth, stable surface needed for veneer application. Each individual piece of veneer was then hand-cut and carefully aligned to seamlessly connect with the piece applied before it. This meticulous process demanded months of planning and weeks of dedicated craftsmanship.
